Benchtop Vertical Vision Inspection System

Improve Your Product Inspection

Vertical Inspection Platform – Compact 360° AI Inspection

The Benchtop Vertical Inspection Platform is a compact automated inspection system designed to evaluate parts in a vertical orientation while they rotate on a precision base.
Using Sciotex AI inspection software, it provides 360° visual coverage to detect defects, verify features, and perform measurements without operator subjectivity.

Benchtop or Tabletop Vertical Vision Inspection System

What the Platform Inspects

This platform is suited for parts that are best viewed upright and benefit from full 360° coverage.

Typical applications include:

  • Cylindrical parts (e.g., caps, vials, bearings, bushings, tubes).
  • Tall or asymmetric components that must be checked around their circumference.
  • Small assemblies where side‑wall features, labels, or surface details are critical.
  • Parts requiring verification of orientation‑dependent features such as grooves, threads, embossing, or markings.

Multiple part families can be supported on the same system by changing fixtures and software recipes.

How the Inspection System Works

Parts are mounted vertically on a rotating base or fixture designed for quick changeover.
As the part spins through a programmed rotation, cameras and lighting capture images from one or more angles to create a complete visual record of the surface.

  • A controlled rotation profile ensures consistent speed and positioning.
  • The vision system triggers image acquisition at specific angles or continuously during rotation.
  • AI‑powered software analyzes each view and aggregates results into a single inspection decision.

This approach delivers reliable, repeatable inspections without operators having to manually turn or reposition parts.

AI Inspection and Measurement Capabilities

Sciotex AI inspection software is at the core of the Benchtop Vertical Inspection Platform.
It turns image streams from the rotating part into actionable decisions and quantitative data.

  • Detection of scratches, dents, chips, voids, discolorations, and other surface defects.
  • Verification of presence, position, and completeness of features around the circumference.
  • Basic dimensional checks such as diameters, heights (from reference), and positional tolerances using calibrated optics.
  • Classification of defect types and grading (e.g., cosmetic vs. functional).

Tolerance rules, defect thresholds, and pass/fail criteria are configured to match your quality standards.

Performance and Flexibility

The platform balances flexibility with throughput, making it well suited for both development and production use.

  • Adjustable rotation speed to support detailed inspections or faster sampling.
  • Flexible recipes for different part numbers, with saved camera settings, lighting, and AI models.
  • Optional multi‑camera configurations for simultaneous top/side views or different magnifications.
  • Designed for long‑term stability, with repeatable mechanical positioning and controlled lighting.

This flexibility allows the same system to support incoming inspection, in‑process checks, and final quality verification.

A desktop vertical inspection solution is often the right fit when:

  • You need 360° inspection of complex parts but do not require a full in‑line system.
  • Volumes are moderate, high‑mix, or changing frequently.
  • You want a flexible platform for R&D, process development, or first‑article inspection.
  • Floor space is limited and a bench‑top footprint is preferred.
